Gobi or Hövsgöl: who already has the jeep quote?

If you already have a driver quoted out of Ulaanbaatar, the week is not something you invent at the hostel desk. Ger camps and cars charge for the whole vehicle. Empty seats still get paid, and a Gobi loop gets painful before you ever lift the felt door on the first night.

The country is steppe, mountain, and desert at a scale that makes a casual plan look small. Ulaanbaatar is the coldest capital on paper and the only lock that really matters: Soviet blocks, glass towers, and ger districts on the edge. Mörön is the northern door toward Hövsgöl. Erdenet is the copper-mine city you pass on the way to other steppe. Mongolian is the language. Russian and Kazakh turn up. English thins once you leave the capital. Eat buuz while the dumplings are still steaming, khuushuur on a road day, khorkhog if a camp cooks meat with hot stones, tsuivan when you want noodles, and airag only if you actually want fermented mare's milk. Pay in tögrög.

A hired jeep is already a week

Camps and 4x4s quote per vehicle. That is why the second person matters. Domestic flights save days. Shared Russian minivans, the purgons, are the authentic bumpy option and a slow way to lose a circuit. A 4x4 with a driver is how most ger-camp loops actually run. June to August is the camp window. Seven to ten days is Ulaanbaatar plus one loop. Two weeks if Gobi and Hövsgöl are both real, which they usually are not on the same budget.

A listing that says "adventure" and does not name the circuit is how people share a regret, not a ger.

When should you go for ger-camp weather?

June to August is the camp window. June through September can still be mild. Prefer June to August if you want tracks and ger nights without hoping a later month will behave. Say the circuit early, before anyone packs dune bags for a lake week.

Ulaanbaatar, Mörön, or Erdenet first?

Name Ulaanbaatar if the circuit starts there, which it almost always does. Name Mörön if Hövsgöl is the whole point and you are flying north. Name Erdenet only if that industrial steppe city is actually a night, not a name you copied because it appeared on a map.

Write the first night so a person landing in Ulaanbaatar knows whether they are sleeping in the capital or rushing a domestic flight at dawn.

Hövsgöl and the Gobi are different weeks. Seven days is one loop. Both is how you fight over a domestic flight you cannot sit twice. Mörön only belongs in the listing if the lake is the point. Erdenet only belongs if that mine city is a real night. Someone who packed for dunes will not be happy in a northern ger, and the reverse is also true.

What do you actually split on a vehicle circuit?

Drivers and camps are hired per vehicle. That is the bill, not a slogan.

Paying three empty seats by yourself is a miserable way to start a Gobi week. The week stays calm when both of you already agreed the same driver. Waiting for a van to fill at the ger door is how the first morning slips away.

What should you write so the circuit is honest?

Write the circuit: Gobi, Hövsgöl, or a shorter central loop. Write the start day in Ulaanbaatar. Write whether the driver is already quoted. Skip the word nomad if you only have a weekend in the capital. Keep the empty-seat maths where someone can see it before they pack.

Once the jeep quote is on paper
