Yasawa or Mamanuca: who is coming with you to Fiji?

You already know Fiji is pretty. What you need is a second person who will stand on the Denarau quay at the same hour, because Yasawa and Mamanuca are different boats and a bungalow on either chain already quotes for two. Nadi is only the landing and the first sleep. The week starts when both of you are on that morning list. Yasawa and Mamanuca are not the same week

The Yasawas run farther northwest: longer boat, simpler villages, a chain you commit to. One week holds one chain. Trying both is how you miss the departure and argue in a Nadi taxi while the quay empties. English, Fijian, and Fiji Hindi all work. English carries the desks, the boats, and most menus. The person next to you is a second swimmer and a second name on the bunk, not a translator. The warmth of the welcome is real. It is not a substitute for holding the same departure. Suva is the capital on Viti Levu, useful if someone actually wants the city and the wetter side. Express buses such as Sunbeam or Coral Sun are the cheap way around the main island. Ferries are how the Mamanucas and Yasawas make sense. A city bus is a main-island day, not the island week.

Which boats do two people actually share?

Share the tourist ferry or the transfer the resorts already run to your named chain. Two people on the same morning boat share the Nadi taxi, the ticket, and the bag watch on the quay. One leftover single buying a later hop is how the week becomes two solo nights.

Eat kokoda (raw fish in lime and coconut) when the catch is honest. A lovo is an earth-oven meal you plan, not a snack. Kava is a sitting with rules. Fijian Indian curry is the other kitchen on the same island. Cassava and taro will follow you whether you asked or not. Those plates are the week. They do not book the boat.

The currency is the Fijian dollar. Budget the boat and the island room first. A Nadi hub night is a third line, not the holiday.

When is the dry-season week the honest window?

May to October is the dry season, when a Yasawa or Mamanuca week is the classic window: clearer water, more reliable boats, rooms that still quote for two. The wetter months still run. They also cancel more hops. Agree on the month first. May light is not November rain, and the boats notice. Do not invent a cyclone forecast here.

A week is Nadi plus one chain. Ten days if you want a slower Yasawa stop. Two weeks is how people start adding Tonga in the same breath. If another Polynesian week is already real, put it on the next trip.
