The country is built around high-value, low-impact wilderness: the Okavango Delta when the channels hold water, and Chobe when the elephants stack along the river. Gaborone is the calm capital and the airport most long-haul flights still use. It is a diamond-town gateway, not the game drive. Francistown is the northern city and the historic gold-mining hinge if you are rolling toward Chobe by road. Maun is the Okavango door people actually write. The Chobe river town is the other door. English and Setswana both work in the safari towns. Kalanga shows up in the northeast.
