One kitchen, three cities: who shares Belgium with you?

Belgium is already small enough that three hotels is a joke you play on yourself. If you have picked Brussels, Bruges, or Ghent as the kitchen for the week, unpack there. Come home to the same door after carbonnade, or after a waffle that is actually from this country. The other two cities are a morning on SNCB, not another suitcase on wet cobbles. People already looking for travel companion here usually want the second name on a two-person apartment and the second rail ticket pointed at the same platform. A day-return from another country that never hangs a coat is a different trip.

Brussels is the political capital and a city of grand squares, comic-strip walls, and Art Nouveau houses you will pass on the way to dinner. Bruges is the canal ring and the belfry, preserved so hard it only feels like itself before the Markt fills. Ghent sits between them, less polished than Bruges and less bureaucratic than Brussels. Liège is the Walloon counterweight: grittier, late, and proud of it. Anderlecht is a Brussels municipality with football heritage and ordinary streets, a local base rather than a postcard. You will eat moules-frites, a Brussels waffle or a Liège waffle (they are not the same), carbonnade flamande, serious chocolate, and shrimp croquettes. Dutch, French, and German are official. English is easy in the tourist triangle. You want those languages for rooms and trains, not for translation.

April to June, and September. Those months keep canal walks usable without the worst of the summer queues in Bruges. October can still be kind. Treat it as a cooler extra. July and August still work if you accept crowds around the Markt.

Five days is Brussels plus Bruges, or Ghent plus Bruges. Seven days holds the whole triangle without rushing Liège. A weekend is one city. Three names on a Friday-to-Sunday listing is how the weekend becomes a luggage argument on cobbles.

Name Brussels if you land in the capital and want a kitchen for the week. Name Bruges if the canals are the point and you will day-trip out. Name Ghent if you want the triangle's middle without sleeping inside a souvenir street. Name Liège if Wallonia and a late night are honest. Put Anderlecht only if that Brussels edge is where you will actually sleep.

Meetup names worth putting in the trip as text are Brussels, Bruges, Liège, and Anderlecht. Add Ghent in the same sentence. Name the bed in the first message. A canal week and a European quarter week ask for different mornings.
