Canaima or Roraima: is the park even receiving visitors?

You can look at Angel Falls for a long time and still not know if anyone is flying into Canaima this month. If you wanted a simple yes, sit with the official page first. The parks and the river camps have not vanished. The money and the politics around them still decide whether a visitor can land.

Start with a current official source. The U.S. travel advisory for Venezuela and the UK foreign travel advice are honest starting points. Your own government's page is the one that applies to your passport.

Spanish is the language that works at a park desk. The bolívar and the US dollar both show up in real payments. A travel companion here is the person who already read that same advisory, will carry cash the same way you will, and will only write Canaima or Roraima if that park is actually open.

What must you check before this is a trip?

Check your government's current travel advice, and check it again the week you would buy a ticket. Check whether the park you named is receiving visitors, whether the airstrip is running, and whether the operator you would pay still operates. Canaima and Roraima are the names that belong in a listing. A waterfall poster does not.

Name Canaima only if a current operator will fly you there and put you on the river. Name Roraima only if the Gran Sabana approach you would use is open to the trek you think you booked. If you cannot confirm that, leave the park name off the page.

If access is stale, leave the Angel Falls poster off as well. Someone who insists on a photograph they cannot currently reach is selling a poster, not sharing a week.

Mérida is an Andes university city and a cable-car door to Sierra Nevada. El Limón sits as a mountain pass toward Henri Pittier and the Caribbean side. Barquisimeto is a western city with a food and music name. Each of those is a maybe, not a default. Write them only if advice and tickets agree.

When does the dry window even matter?

Historically December to April is the drier span. Check advisories first, then treat December to April as the old dry window if you are still going. The window is useless if the park flight is not running. Season is second. Access is first.

If advice says do not go, do not match. If advice allows a narrow plan, write that plan, not a national tour.

Caracas, Mérida, or a named park first?
